M. Joseph Histen

Experience & Background

Joseph brings a strong knowledge of the economics of organization, law and economics, and quantitative methods to the PFC team of experts. He is an Assistant Professor of Economics at California State University, Northridge. His classes include Industrial Organization, Law and Economics, Principles of Microeconomics, and Theory of the Firm. Before starting at California State University, Northridge, Joseph taught in the Economics department at the College of Wooster.


Joseph’s research interests focus on topics in Institutional Economics, Industrial Organization, and Economic History. His current research centers around quantifying the interpretability of networked and textual artifacts through econometric models. He has published in the Journal of Comparative Economics, the Journal of Institutional Economics, and more.

Education

Joseph received his B.S. in Economics and later his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Connecticut. His dissertation, Three Essays on Institutions and Organizations, was supervised by Richard Langlois.
